Thanksgiving Trip

Funds raised for water line installation

We praise God for His faithfulness in providing 50 people to go on our Thanksgiving Mission Trip. God also provided $2,500 through two generous donations so that we can install 3,000 feet of pipe to bring water to roughly 30% of the families that will ultimately be served by the La Union Well.

Over 15 used ceiling fans have also been donated to be installed in homes that have no other form of climate control. Optometrist Brett Hamilton will be conducting vision screenings with his wife, Kristin and friend, Marion Wachmann, so that the children of the La Union School will have the proper vision correction to facilitate learning. Greg Gilbert, RN, BSN, will be leading our well check clinic, enabling residents some preventative care which otherwise would be nearly inaccessible. Deanna Mueller has planned a fabulous women’s craft in which the women will experience the step by step painting classes that have become so popular. Lori Birch has drafted a fun VBS for the children surrounding prayer that she has passed along to the VBS team to execute (as she cannot come). Cristina and Chris Hardie are filming the residents' stories, video which will be able to use in future newsletters and on the Rohi website. Valerie Erickson is leading the Thanksgiving Meal team, preparing traditional Thanksgiving culinary delights that are deliciously memorable year after year. We have collected mountains of jackets, blankets and school supplies and will be sure to take plenty of pictures (thank you Lyda McIver for volunteering to be our trip photographer) as we give them to colonia residents. Thank you to everyone who gave, especially the Grace Covenant Women's Bible Studies. Please continue to pray for the trip. Pray for God's covering to prevent sickness, injury, worry or any other thing that would thwart those called to come. The planning team has already faced many obstacles and we covet your prayers for the final stretch. We know that God is faithful when we ask, seek, and knock (Matthew 7:7-8). We will be in Reynosa from next Wednesday, November 25th - Sunday, November 29th.
