Upcoming Thanksgiving Trip - Biggest Group in Recent Years

The response to the Thanksgiving trip (November 25-29) has been tremendous. We are likely to have over 50 people. About half will be returning families. The other half are new participants, many of whom have never been on a mission trip before. Please pray for this trip. We know from past experience that Satan wants to thwart our plans to serve The Lord’s people in the colonias. Pray that the Lord will protect us from sickness, fear, busyness, fatigue, and anything else that would stop those wanting to go on the trip. Please also pray for protection over the trip and that the Lord would use our work to bring hearts closer to Him.

Our main focus will be laying pipe from the newly drilled well at La Union to the homes it will serve. Our goal is to lay 2,000 feet of pipe on the trip. Scott McDonald estimates it will cost about $1 a foot - $2,000 total. Think and pray about giving towards this project as it will truly be life changing for the residents. You can do so on our website (www.therohifoundaiton.org) or via Paypal (rohifoundation@earthlink.net), in addition to checks to our physical address.

Besides the well project, we have lots of other activities planned. Thursday, our first day in the colonia, we will canvas the neighborhood, talking with and praying for residents and handing out jackets and blankets. We are collecting these items now and if you have some you would like to donate, contact Tom Erickson (terickson@austin.rr.com) or Cory Vessa (vessacory@hotmail.com). Special thanks to the Women’s Bible Study at Grace Covenant Church who is collecting these items, as well as school supplies, for their service project this semester.

Thursday afternoon our service projects commence. Besides the well project, we will be installing ceiling fans in homes, holding a Vacation Bible School, doing a craft with the women, playing sports with the kids, having a community fun run, conducting a vision screening and vision exams and starting on Friday, having a well check medical clinic. Thursday night we will celebrate Thanksgiving with a delicious Thanksgiving dinner.

Saturday afternoon, after all our service projects have wrapped up, we will celebrate with the residents at our annual community picnic.
